The Inter-American Institute of Human Rights and Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes (GAAMAC) are pleased to announce the Webinar “Twenty years of the International Criminal Court: achievements and future challenges,” which will be held on September 12 at 2:00 p.m. (Uruguay) and 11:00 a.m. (Costa Rica).

The adoption of the Rome Statute in 1998 was a landmark in international criminal law as it established a new standard to put an end to impunity of grave crimes. The International Criminal Court (ICC) was created with the entry into force of the Rome Statute on July 1, 2002, thus establishing a permanent system to put an end to impunity of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.

The speakers, former or current ICC judges, will share their experiences and viewpoints on the achievements and future challenges of the ICC.

The Webinar will be available on Zoom in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation in English.
