XIV Specialized Course for State Officials on Use of Inter-American System for Protection of Human Rights

San José, Costa Rica. The fourteenth edition of the Specialized Course for State Officials on the Use of the Inter-American System for the Protection of Human Rights concluded on August 9, 2021. The event was designed to strengthen the capacity of public officials to incorporate international norms of human rights into public policy.

The Course was inaugurated on July 1 by Claudio Grossman, IIHR President, who gave the inaugural lecture; also welcoming the participants were Rut Krüger Giverin, Ambassador of Norway for Mexico and Central America, and José Thompson, IIHR Executive Director.

Approximately 30 participants from different countries of the region began their studies on July 5. The program was as follows:

  • Module 1 “Introduction to the organs of the System.” Docent: José Pablo Vega.

  • Module 3. “Public policies with a focus based on human rights.” Docent Claudia Espinosa.

The Course was closed with a lecture by Delia Ferreira, President of Transparency International, on “The challenges of the fight against corruption in the region.
