IIHR/CAPEL at first simulated national election in Ecuador

Quito, Ecuador. Under the agreement signed in February 2020 by the Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIDH/CAPEL) and the National Electoral Council of Ecuador (CNE), the Center visited Ecuador on January 18, 2021 to observe the first national electoral simulation, the purpose which was to verify the correct functioning of the System of Transmission and Publication of the Reports and Results and the protocols of biosecurity that will be applied to guarantee the health of the voters as well as everyone who will be involved in the elections held on February 7.

Participating in the CAPRL mission were Tasheena Obanda, international advisor, and Dennis Cascante, consultant in technological matters, who, in a joint effort of CAPEL and the UN Development Program, is providing follow-up to the implementation of the CNE information systems for those elections.
