Fourth course on reasoning and impact techniques with focus on human rights and strategic litigation for defenders of sexual and reproductive health of women.

San José, Costa Rica. The fourth edition of the “Course on Reasoning and Impact Techniques with a Focus on Human Rights and Strategic Litigation for the Defenders of the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Women, began on September 16, 2021 and will conclude on October 8.

The course’s objectives are to provide tools of impact to the defenders of the sexual and reproductive rights of women  through strategic litigation and to strengthen their work so as to achieve progress in the respect, protection and guarantee of those rights.

This academic program is divided into four modules:

  • Module 1. Human rights, sexual rights and reproductive rights
  • Module 2. Documentation and introduction to mapping
  • Module 3. Mapping exercises
  • Module 4. Strategic decisions

Fifty lawyers, academics and students of public institutions, organizations of civil society, academia and international organizations, who work in the promotion and protection of the human rights of women, are participating.

The docents of the course are Ariadna Tovar, a lawyer and specialist in the human rights of women and in sexual and reproductive rights, and Ana Cristina Vera, a lawyer who is an expert in criminal law, human rights and gender and is the Executive Director of the Center of Support and Protection of Human Rights (SURKUNA). Each is a consultant of the IIHR.
