San Salvador, El Salvador. On February 28, 2021, a mission of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) observed the voting for the legislature and for local governors in this Central American country. The mission was comprised of electoral magistrates and staff from Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay and a delegation of the Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIHR/CAPEL), Executive Secrariat of UNIORE, in the persons of its Director, José Thompson, and Andrea Tercero, international advisor.

As is the custom in this type of activities, on February 27 the mission met on several occasions with the Salvadoran electoral authorities and with the commission charged with transmitting the results. It also received four training sessions on the forthcoming election. The following day, the members visited polling places in the Departments of San Salvador and San Vicente from the opening of the polls until their close. The mission concluded with an evaluation, the results of which will be presented to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.
