Workshop to Validate Findings and Recommendations of Electoral Observation – 2021 General Elections in Ecuador

Quito, Ecuador. The Workshop to Validate the Findings and Recommendations of the Electoral Observation took place August 27-28, 2021. It was organized by the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador and chaired by José Cabrera Zurita, CNE Magistrate, and Gabriela Ortiz, CNE Director of International Affairs, Cooperation and Electoral Observation.

Participating in the Workshop, the aim of which was to propose improvements for future electoral processes, were representatives of the national and international observation missions to the May 7 presidential election in Ecuador. Representing the joint Presidency of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) -the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of the Dominican Republic- were Román Jáquez Liranzo, JCE President, and Rosa Pérez, TSE Magistrate. Also attending was Sofía Vincenzi, Coordinator of the Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIHR/CAPEL), the Executive Secretariat of UNIORE.


On August 28, Magistrate Cabrera Zurita received the findings and recommendations of the electoral observation. At the close of the event, he thanked the delegations and presented  various recognitions to UNIORE for its work before, during and after`the electoral process, which were accepted by the Co-Presidents of UNORE.


CAPEL was recognized “for its contribution in creating doctrine for the smooth operation of the electoral processes” in Ecuador. The recognition was accepted by Ms. Vincenzi.
