Closing of the diploma course on migrants and victims of trafficking

Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The diploma course on migrants and trafficking of persons with specific needs of national and international protection was formally closed on November 17, 2016. Presiding over the event were Wilfredo Méndez, Executive Director of the Center for Research and Promotion of Human Rights (CIPRODEH); Jennifer Erazo, Regional Coordinator of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES); Juan José Castro, President of the Honduran Red Cross (CRH) and Mirna Rodríguez, expert on human movements. The Institute was represented by Jorge Padilla, Coordinator of its Center of Resources and Studies for Education in Human Rights.

During the ceremony Mr. Padilla, in the name of the IIHR Executive Director, received a recognition for the Institute from the President of the CRH.

The course, which was held over a period of nine months, graduated 21 Hondurans who worked at the International Organization for Migration, National Congress, Armed Forces, Migrant Police and governmental staff dealing with migration. 

The on-site phase of the course was the responsibility of the IIHR, as part of an alliance with the above-mentioned organizations and the European Union.
