Diploma Course in Human Rights for Journalists

San José, Costa Rica. The Virtual Diploma Course in Human Rights for Journalists began on August 11, 2020 with the participation of some 50 journalists from 19 countries of the region.

In his opening remarks, José Thompson, IIHR Executive Director, stated that “unrestricted freedom of expression is especially relevant at this time in the region.” Joining Mr. Thompson in welcoming the participants were Eduardo Ferrer Mac-Gregor (Judge of the Inter-American Court), Lidia Brito (Director of UNESCO’s Regional Bureau for Science in Latin America and the Caribbean) and Daniel Pinilla (Coordinator of Projects of the Rule of Law for Latin America of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation). Together with the IIHR, the latter two organization supported this initiative of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
