IIHR in international seminar "Narratives and perspectives of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in a global world"

  San José, Costa Rica. On February 15-16, IIHR authorities participated in the international seminar “Narratives and Perspectives of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in a Global World,” organized by the Court to open the Inter-American Judicial Year 2016 .


Panel V on  "Different perspectives of the practice of the legal profession in the protection of human rights" and Panel VI on "Human Rights in a global world. Lessons learnt and expectations of the IACHR” were moderated by Joseph Thompson and Sonia Picado, Executive Director and Honorary President of the Institute, respectively.
Mrs. Picado was a judge of the IACHR until 1994. In addition, Soledad García Muñoz, IIHR representative for the MERCOSUR region, participated in Panel VII on the “Impact of the decisions of the Inter-American Court/Ius Commune Latin American.” Recently-elected judge and member of the IIHR General Assembly, Elizabeth Odio, also participated in Panel VI .


  The activity was part of the 113th Regular Session of the Court. Participating in the activity were presidents, former presidents and judges of international and national courts as well as members of academia and representatives of international organizations and civil society organizations .
