IIHR signs agreement with La Doble Tracción

San José, Costa Rica. On June 11, 2010, the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights signed an agreement of cooperation with La Doble Tracción Medios, a network of local media comprised of its subsidiaries Los Guachis and the Club de Debate Ciudadano: Debates Relámpago. The objectives of the agreement are to identify, promote and implement projects of collaboration, training, dissemination and technical assistance that would strengthen access to information, transparency, the fight against corruption and civic participation in Costa Rica.

As part of the agreement, the IIHR will offer academic certificates to the participants in the civic debates organized by La Doble Traction and there will be an interchange of resources, such as printed materials, courses, channels of commnication and networks of contacts in a manner that each organization contributes to civic participation, transparency and the fight against corruption.

The independent communication medium La Doble Tracción Medios and its subsidiaries, Los Guachis y Debates Relámpago, are a system of resources for public transparency and civic participation.


Los Guachis is a network of communications media that disseminate information and relevant material for the civic oversight of local governments.


Debates Relámpago is a club in which citizens debate urgent matters in the country with decision makers or their representatives, exchanging differences of opinion and offering solutions.
