Forum on "Territorial Peace-Building with regard to the Colombian Caribbean”

Santa Marta, Colombia. A regional forum on “Territorial Peace-Building with regard to the Colombian Caribbean” took place on September 21, 2016. The event covered consultation, construction, impact and development concerning the territorial proposals for peace, with a focus on integral and transforming reparation.

The agenda included the following topics: Pedagogy of peace and assertive communication with respect to peace in the context of the victims, challenges and territorial peace-building and participation and impact of the victims in local and regional development during the post-conflict. The panel was comprised of Alan Jara, National Director of the Unit of Victims; Odorico Guerra, Coordinator of the Departmental Group and of the National Group for the Effective Participation of Victims; Patricia Luna, of the Victims Section of the Office of the Ombudsman, and for civil society Pedro Santana, of the Commission for Follow-up of Forced Displacement, and Adriana Piquero, Office Manager of the IIHR Office in Colombia.

The forum was organized by the national and departmental groups for the effective participation of victims, headed by the Coordinator of the National Group in collaboration with the Ministry of Presidency, the Office of the Ombudsman and the Territorial Office of the Unit of Victims, among others. The forum took place in Magdalena Department as part of the activities sponsored by the Unit of Victims and the IIHR. The event was also among the activities promoted by the groups for the effective participation of victims, including initiatives related to the post-signing stage of the peace agreement.
