First International Course on “International Protection of Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples”

Lima, Peru. The First International, Intercultural and Interdisciplinary Course “The International Protection of the Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Territorial Rights and Prior Consultation” was held October 7-12, 2019 in order to exchange ideas about an “agenda towards decolonization” and to witness artistic activities of different indigenous peoples of the region.

The IIHR, along with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the UN Office of the High Commissioner, aided the International Institute of Law and Society in the organization and convocation of the event. Participating were some 140 persons from diverse countries, among them indigenous authorities, government officials and representatives of private enterprise.
