Chiapas, México; San José, Costa Rica. The First International Diploma Course “Human Rights and Displacement: Migrations, Cooperation for Development and Humanitarian Law,” a joint program of the IIHR and the Institute of Juridical Research of the National Autonomous University of Chiapas, was held April 29 to November 12.
The Course had three principal thematic areas that were given successively:
1. Right of aliens, asylees and refugees. The human rights of migrants and the policies that govern them.
2. International Humanitarian Law and Humanitarian Action, the applicable norms in situations of armed conflict and for victims of natural disasters.
3. Cooperation for Development, arising from international solidarity, which seeks to eradicate the structural causes that bring about displacement.
Public officials, professionals, researchers, activists and human rights defenders, students involved in the subject matter or with an interest in the different cultures, displacement and human rights in the area of the southern border of Mexico.
