Virtual Advanced Mission for general elections in Bolivia

San José, Costa Rica, On September 29, 2020, the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) and its Executive Secretariat, the Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIHR/CAPEL) initiated a Virtual Advanced Mission for the general elections that took place in Bolivia on October 18, 2020.

The goal of the Mission was to learn of the progress made in the organization of the elections from a technical and imparcial perspective in order to collaborate with the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) by identifying the strengths and the possibilities for improving the voting.

Participating in the virtual meetings that took place on September 25 and 28 were Salvador Romero (President of the TSE), Felipe Fuentes Barrera and Alberto Guevara (President and Director of International Affairs of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation of Mexico), Hernán Penagos (President of the National Electoral Council of Colombia), Hugo Picado (Alternate Magistrate of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Costa Rica), Manuel Carrillo (Coordinator of International Affairs of the National Electoral Institute of Mexico), Pamela San Martín (Technical Secretary of the Mission) and Yara Campos (Alternate Magistrate of the Electoral Tribunal of Panama). Representing CAPEL were José Thompson (Director), Sofía Vincenzi (Coordinator) and Tasheena Obando and Andrea Tercero (International Advisors).

The meetings continued throughout the month of October.
