Tegucigalpa, Honduras. On March 12, 2017, a mission of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) observed the internal elections of the Honduran political parties. The mission was headed by UNIORE President, María Elena Wapenka, Judge of the Superior Tribunal of Electoral Justice of Paraguay, and was also comprised of judges and staff of the electoral bodies of Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Santa Lucía and Uruguay.
On this occasion, the different political parties chose their candidates for the general elections that will be held next November 26.
The Center of Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIHR/CAPEL), the Executive Secretariat of UNIORE, was represented by a delegation comprised of Sofía Vincenzi, Tasheena Obando, Andrea Tercero and Ricardo Valverde.
