Advanced and follow-up mission of UNIORE and Protocol of Tikal to Guatemala

Guatemala City. An advanced and follow-up mission of the Protocol of Tikal and the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) visited the offices of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Guatemala on July 12, 2019. As part of the organizations continuing interest in the elections in that country, meetings were held with the full Tribunal, including Gloria López, Director of Elections, and Benjamin Rosales of the Department of Computation.

The mission was comprised of Eugenia María Zamora Chavarría, Vice President of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Costa Rica, who headed the mission on the part of UNIORE; Carmen Imbert Brugal, member of the Central Electoral Board of the Dominican Republic (JCD), who presided on the part the Protocol of Tikal; Gilberto Enrique Estrada de Icaza, Alternate Magistrate of the Electoral Tribunal of Panama, and Joel Lantigua Peralta, JCD Director of International Affairs. Representing the Executive Secretariat of the Protocol of Tikal and UNIORE, the Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIHR/CAPEL), was the Center’s Coordinator, Sofía Vincenzi.
