Montevideo, Uruguay. The IIHR Regional Office for South America is one of the organizers of the Seventh Latin American and Caribbean Colloquium on Education in Human Rights, entitled “100 Years of the University of Córdoba Reform: Current Thinking on Education in Human Rights.” The Latin American and Caribbean Network for Education in Human Rights, comprised of universities and other academic bodies and the purpose of which is the holding of joint activities and the exchange of scientific and cultural knowledge to promote education in human rights in the region, was a prime mover of the event.
The event, which will take place September14-16, 2017 in Montevideo, is expected to be attended by more than 300 experts who will discuss topics such as “Infancy and adolescence,” Different forms of violence and discrimination,” Education and human rights,” The human rights in public institutions. National plans and historical memory” and “Human rights and democracy.”
In addition to the IIHR, the Working Group is composed of, among others, the Mayor’s Office of Montevideo, the National Institution of Human Rights and the Ombudsman, the Secretariat of Human Rights of the Presidency and the public and Catholic universities of Uruguay. They are joined by the University of Quilmes (Argentina), the Latin American and Caribbean Coalition of Cities against Racism, Discrimination and Xenophobia, the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture and the Inter-American Children’s Institute.
