New human rights school in Guatemala

Guatemala City. Jorge Padilla, IIHR Coordinator of Education in Human Rights, visited this city from February 28 to March 3 to meet with the Ombudsman for Human Rights, Jordán Rodas Andrade, and Claudia Caballeros, coordinator of the unit against human trafficking of the Justice for Youth project, sponsored by USAID. The purpose of the meeting was to provide technical assistance for the design, creation and installation of the “School to Train in Human Rights of the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights, Juan José Gerardi Conedera,” which will receive the support of the aforementioned agency of cooperation.

As part of the mission, Mr. Padilla made a review of the course on “The detection and approach to human trafficking,” which was given by the Office of the Ombudsman and the IIHR, together with the Centro Universitario de Occidente (CUNOC) of the University of San Carlos, located in Quetzaltenango.
