First UNIORE advanced mission visits Peru

Lima, Peru. The first advanced mission of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) visited Peru to commence its support with respect to the Special Congressional Elections that will take place January 26, 2020. On November 18, the UNIORE delegation met with the President of the National Jury of Elections (JNE), Víctor Ticona Postigo. On the following day, the members spoke with the heads of the National Office of Elections (ONPE) and the National Registry of Identification and Marital Status (RENIEC), Manuel Cox  and Bernardo Pachas, respectively.

The delegation was comprised of Zetty María Bou Valverde, Alternate Magistrate of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Costa Rica; Hernán Penagos, President of the National Electoral Council of Colombia; Alberto Guevara, Director of Institutional Affairs of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation of Mexico, and Sofía Vincenzi, Coordinator of the Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIHR/CAPEL), which organized the activity at the request of the JNE.
