Montevideo, Uruguay. A campaign to promote diversity and the right to health of LGBTI persons in Montevideo will be financed by the Embassy and Government of Canada through the Canadian Fund for Local Insitiatives. The objective of the project is to create an informed awareness and empowerment of LGBTI persons through knowledge of their rights in the area of health. The project contemplates activities such as the conceptual design and filming of an audio-visual and graphic campaign that will be presented in waiting rooms of clinics and other spaces and media of the Mayorality of the city, including the open television canal TV Ciudad, giant screens placed in other institutions, buses and pubic streets. The campaign will be launched with special acts in three clinics that are members of the network of public attention.
This proposal was selected among hundreds of applications for financing on different topics, among them human rights and respect for diversity, one of the IIHR priorities. The Canadian Fund gives financial support to small-scale projects in areas of interest of its government that have been conceived and designed by local non-profit organizations, such as the IIHR.
