Santiago de Chile. On July 2, 2017, a mission of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) and its Executive Secretariat, the Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIHR/CAPEL) visited Chile on the occasion of its primary elections. The mission was comprised of 22 delegates of the UNIORE member bodies who observed the process together with the Electoral Service (SERVAL) and the Qualifying Tribunal of Elections (TCE).
The agenda included meetings with both SERVAL and the TCE in order to learn the context in which the elections were being held, to visit polling booths in Santiago as well as in rural areas and the place where the results were announced.
