Santiago, Chile. The on-site week that closed the Sixth International Diploma Course on Human Rights and the Police Function took place November 12-16, 2018 at the School of the Headquarters of Police Education of the Investigative Police of Chile.
The virtual phase of the Course, the theme of which was ”Effective Security and Access to Justice, with a Human Rights Focus,” took place from June 4 to October 30. The on-site portion was inaugurated with a lecture on “Human Rights: from an Aspiration to a Norm, from the Domestic to the International” by the IIHR Executive Director, José Thompson.
In addition to the 31 participants from the Investigative Police, eleven police officials from Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Peru and Uruguay graduated.
The Course was part of the agreement signed in 2010 by the Investigative Police and the IIHR Regional Office for South America and had the support of the Chilean Agency of Cooperation and Development of the Foreign Ministry and has been an IIHR academic activity since 2013.
