San José, Costa Rica. On April 27, 2016, representatives of the Central American Network of Persons with HIV (REDCA+), a branch of the Secretariat of Central American Social Integration (SISCA) visited the Institute. At their meeting with Jorge Padilla, head of Education in the IIHR, they presented the goals of the regional project, which is financed by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and discussed possibilities of collaboration to strengthen the mechanisms of protection for persons with AIDS in Costa Rica and the other six countries of the region.
The delegation was comprised of Erika Suero, Regional Director; Otoniel Ramírez, General Secretary; and Rosibel Zúñiga and Iván Acuña, legal advisors in Costa Rica. Members of REDCA+ are persons with HIV and are supported by their own organizations as well as those established in Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.
