Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The Thirty-second Conference of the Electoral Bodies of Central America and the Caribbean (Protocol of Tikal) met August 1-2, 2018 with the theme of “The Independence of Electoral Bodies.”
Participating in the event were representatives of the electoral bodies of Antigua and Barbuda, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Puerto Rico and Saint Lucia, who were joined by a delegation of the Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (IIDH/CAPEL), the Executive Secretariat of the Association.
Among the points discussed at the meeting were the transfer of the interim Presidency held by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Honduras to the Central Electoral Board of the Dominican Republic and the adoption of agreements that will make it possible to coordinate activities in the future.
